BoatLife Foundation

Support our work

We are not asking for money yet

BoatLife Foundation was formed on July 22, 2026. Before we invite anyone to give, we are finishing the registrations that a charity is expected to have in place. Here is exactly where that stands.

Where we stand

An honest answer instead of a donate button

A new organization asking for contributions before it is registered to do so is asking you to take its word for something it has not yet earned. We would rather wait.

BoatLife Foundation is a New Jersey nonprofit corporation and has applied for recognition as a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. We have not received a determination letter from the Internal Revenue Service, and our charitable registration in New Jersey is not complete. Until both of those are settled and a donation processor is connected, this page will not collect money or suggest what a gift would be worth to you at tax time.

If you would like to know the moment that changes, leave your email below. If you would rather help right now, the fastest way is to work with us, not to fund us.

Our application for tax-exempt status is pending. Contributions are not currently deductible as charitable donations. If recognition is granted, exemption is generally retroactive to our date of formation.

The checklist

What has to be true before we can accept contributions

Four items. We will update this page as each one is completed.

Incorporation and EIN

Complete. BoatLife Foundation was formed on July 22, 2026 as a New Jersey nonprofit corporation and holds a federal Employer Identification Number.

Federal exemption

In progress. Until the Internal Revenue Service has ruled on our status, we will not describe gifts to us in terms we cannot yet support.

New Jersey charitable registration

In progress. New Jersey generally requires charities to register with the Division of Consumer Affairs before soliciting contributions in the state.

Donation processing

Not yet connected. When giving opens we will use a processor that issues a proper receipt for every gift and keeps card data off our servers.

Stay in the loop

Tell us to let you know when giving opens

One email when contributions open, plus the occasional update on programs and partnerships. Nothing else, and we never share your address.

Stay informed

Occasional updates on programs, grants, and volunteer opportunities. No more than once a month, and we never share your address.

In the meantime

Three things that help more than a donation would today

Early partners shape which waterways we work in, which programs launch first, and how we measure whether any of it worked.

Partner with us

Marinas, clubs, schools, watershed groups, and municipalities can help decide which programs launch first and where.

Ways to partner

Volunteer

Instructors, boaters, engineers, and organizers can contribute the thing we need most right now, which is time.

Volunteer with us

Talk to us about future funding

Foundations and companies planning ahead can start the conversation now, before giving opens.
